Thomas practices primarily in the fields of Labor and Employment Law, Business Associations and Civil Litigation.

Thomas is a member of the American, Iowa and Johnson County Bar associations, served the Iowa Bar Association Committee on Jury Instruction and is a current member of the Sixth Judicial District Nominating Commission. Thomas is a past president of the Johnson County Bar Association. He is a member of the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers and the Iowa Trial Lawyers Association. Thomas has been included in Best Lawyers in America from 2000 to the present.

Thomas graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law Summa Cum Laude and Order of the Coif (with highest distinction).
