Mark's practice is in the area of Business Law with a focus on Franchise and Distribution, and the practice areas of Real Estate as well as Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning and Probate.

Mark is a member of the American, Iowa and Johnson County Bar Associations. Mark has been a member of the Industry Advisory Committee to the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) Franchise and Business Opportunity Committee (1986-1988, 1992-1996). He has served on the Iowa State Bar Association Trade Regulation Section (Council Member, 1988-1992, 1993-1996, 1997-2000, 2001-Present; Chair, 1995-1996, 1999-2000). Mark has been included in Best Lawyers in America in the area of Franchise Law from 1999 to the present.

Mark has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Iowa’s School of Business Administration teaching Franchising and a seminar on Entrepreneurship. Mark has been published and has lectured extensively in the areas of Franchise and Distribution Law and related business topics.
